Part 1: Washington State

Day 1, Tuesday Oct 12 (Langely --> Camano Island State Park)

Due to the Irish flu we got off to a bit of a delayed start after going to the Canuck's game the night before. Besides feeling sorry for ourselves we were able to get immunized at a local Langley travel clinic. We ended up crossing the boarder with minimal delays at 7pm. After fueling up both the Van and our liquor supply we headed to a state campsite in Washington which turned out to be a little off the beaten path. We purchased 30 busch for under $20 and were able to scavenge up enough firewood (which isn't recommended/legal) to have a fire at midnight. Note to self, head lamps are a must.

Day 2, Wednseday Oct 13 (Seattle --> Miller Slyvania State Park)

After starting the day off with a lack of showers or breakfast, we decided it would be a good idea to live the American dream and make a detour at Walmart.  The plan was to spend the day the whole day in Seattle, but after an extended visit to Walmart and the invention of Urban Picnicking, we found ourselves rolling into the city around 3pm. The Bay Pavillion Market ended up being our parking destination, followed by a 2 hour foot tour of the city looking for a place to exchange money. Surprise, surprise we found ourselves once again in the dark looking for a campsite to stay the night at. Apparently  firewood is in short supply in the US, and cost us 5 bucks for a kid's armful. Headlamps saved us again as we set up shop in the dark and put together a $20 tent from Walmart for me as Jason and Lisa slept in the comfort of free _andy. Note to self, setting up camp in the dark sucks.

Day 3, Thursday Oct 14 (Portland --> The Oregon Coast)

With the promise of us starting the day at 8:30 so we could check out all that Portland had to offer, our actual start was something closer to 10. With hot showers and delicious veggie mc muffies in our tummies courtesy of Taylor we headed on our way to see what the rest of Washington had to offer us before we moved onto the next State. We had this great idea that we would stop at a thrift shop to see if we could pick up some camping things. We stopped in this little town on the side on the I-5 with a million antique shops to see if an antique shop was the same thing as in Canada or if it was really a pawn or thrift shop. Nope, the word is universal. Antiques mean antiques. We continued onto our next destination of Vancouver, Washington but with a little confusion ended heading straight into Portland missing the border entirely. Took us a while but after another urban picnic at Target (not close to having the same feeling as a wal-mart) we are now currently stealing some wireless from a starbucks. Till next time....
